Orphan Sponsorship
Your sponsorship ensures that the child receives comprehensive, dignity-centered care
Orphan Sponsorship
Through the Orphan Sponsorship Program in Kenya, Gaza, Lebanon, Jordan, and Yemen, you can make a lasting difference in a child’s life.
By committing to sponsor a child for at least one year—and up to five—you provide essential, long-term support that promotes their protection, wellbeing, and future opportunities.
The Stories Behind Our Orphan Sponsorship Program
This series shares the stories of children in our Orphan Sponsorship Program — stories of loss, resilience, and hope.
Each child carries a story that deserves to be seen, remembered, and supported. Through these stories, we invite you to meet them, understand their journeys, and be part of the future they are building.
Khaled is a child without memories of his father, only a story his mother tells him every night. A story that began just one week before he was born.
Before Khaled came into the world, fate had already written that he would be born an orphan. His mother walked with heavy steps, not only because of pregnancy, but because fear filled the streets of Gaza.
Together with her husband, she prepared a small bag of baby clothes, carefully chosen for Khaled’s first days of life.
Amid the smoke and violence, Khaled’s father lost his life while trying to provide for his family and secure a better future for the child he dreamed of holding in his arms.
Khaled’s mother was left alone, carrying within her a child who would grow up searching for a face he would know only through photographs.
One week after his father’s passing, amid grief and tears, Khaled was born.
Today, Khaled is two years old. He does not understand war, but he understands absence. Like many children, his first word was “Papa,” yet he has never known the warmth of his father’s embrace.
Despite the hardships his family faces, Khaled’s mother does everything she can to ensure her child grows with dignity, care, and hope.
Khaled stands as a living reminder that Gaza is reborn through its children, and that the love nurtured over nine months endures — no matter how strong the storms may be.

- Essential living needs and child protection
- Access to healthcare services
- Educational support and school-related needs
- Seasonal assistance (Eid gifts, winter clothing, etc.)
- Back-to-school support each academic year
Understanding Your Commitment
When you sponsor a child, here’s what you can expect:
Minimum Sponsorship Term
To ensure stability and continuity of care, sponsorship is for a minimum of one year, with the option to sponsor for up to five years.
Annual Contribution
Sponsorship payments are made annually. These contributions help cover the full range of care and support your sponsored child receives.
Child Updates
You will receive quarterly updates about your sponsored child, so you can see how they are growing, learning, and thriving.
Program Continuity
In rare cases where a child may leave the program due to relocation, family reunification, or other factors, UMR will assign another eligible child to ensure your sponsorship continues uninterrupted.
Sponsoring a child through UMR is more than financial support—it is a promise of stability, dignity, and hope. By joining this program, you are helping create a brighter future for a child in need.
Family Sponsorship
To prevent family separation, early marriage, and child labor, UMR provides financial support to at-risk households. This allows families—especially those headed by widows or caring for children with disabilities—to maintain housing, cover school fees, and stay together.
Child Protection Services
In Jordan, Kenya, Yemen, Lebanon, and Turkey, UMR offers safe spaces, psychosocial support, life skills education, and referral pathways for at-risk children. We work with parents, teachers, and local leaders to recognize and respond to protection risks.
Orphan Sponsorship
Our monthly sponsorship program supports orphans in Gaza, Jordan, Kenya, Turkey, and Lebanon by covering basic needs such as food, education, healthcare, and psychosocial support. Each child’s well-being is closely monitored in coordination with local partners.
Education & Psychosocial Support
UMR integrates education and mental health services to ensure children affected by trauma continue learning and healing. We provide tutoring, school enrollment support, and counseling for vulnerable children, including those with autism or other disabilities.
