Quran

The Quran, also romanized Qur’an or Koran, is the central religious text of Islam, believed by Muslims to be a revelation from Allah. It is organized in 114 chapters, which consist of verses.

About Holy Quran

The Holy Quran is the Holy Book or the Scriptures of the Muslims. It lays down for them the law and commandments, codes for their social and moral behavior, and contains a comprehensive religious philosophy. The language of the Quran is Arabic.

Besides its proper name, the Quran is also known by the following names: al Kitab (The Book); al Furqan (The Discrimination); al Dhikr (The Exposition); al Bayan (The Explanation); al Burhan (The Argument); al Haqq (The Truth); al Tanzil (The Revelation); al Hikmat (The Wisdom); al Huda (The Guide); al Hukm (The Judgment); al Mau’izah (The Admonition); al Rahmat (The Mercy); al-Noor (The Light); al-Rooh (The Word).

What Does The Holy Quran Contain

To the Muslims, the Quran is the Word of God and contains complete guidance for mankind. Much of the Quran is about God, His attributes and man’s relationship to Him. But it also contains directives for its followers, historical accounts of certain prophets and peoples, arguments for accepting Muhammad as a genuine Prophet and good news for the believers and warnings for the disbelievers. Broadly speaking, the contents of the Holy Quran fall into five main categories:

  • Nature of the Spiritual World
  • The Law and Commandments
  • Historical Accounts
  • The Wisdom
  • The Prophecies

Surahs And Verses

The Holy Quran is divided into 114 Surahs or Chapters and each Chapter consists of individual Ayaat or verses.

There are in total 6,348 verses in the Holy Quran. The Surahs are of varying lengths, some consisting of a few lines while others run for many pages.

Surah al Baqarah (Ch.2) is the longest Chapter comprising 287 verses while Surah al Kauthar (Ch. 108) is the shortest with only four verses including the tasmia.

The text of the Holy Quran has remained unchanged over the past 1400 years. And this is not strange since God says in the Holy Quran that He Himself will guard this book:

“Surely it is We Who have revealed the Exposition, and surely it is We Who are its guardians” (15:10)

The Noble Qur'an » Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) -

Nun. By the pen and what they inscribe, Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [1]
You are not, [O Muhammad], by the favor of your Lord, a madman. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [2]
And indeed, for you is a reward uninterrupted. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [3]
And indeed, you are of a great moral character. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [4]
So you will see and they will see Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [5]
Which of you is the afflicted [by a devil]. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [6]
Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has gone astray from His way, and He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [7]
Then do not obey the deniers. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [8]
They wish that you would soften [in your position], so they would soften [toward you]. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [9]
And do not obey every worthless habitual swearer Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [10]
[And] scorner, going about with malicious gossip - Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [11]
A preventer of good, transgressing and sinful, Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [12]
Cruel, moreover, and an illegitimate pretender. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [13]
Because he is a possessor of wealth and children, Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [14]
When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [15]
We will brand him upon the snout. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [16]
Indeed, We have tried them as We tried the companions of the garden, when they swore to cut its fruit in the [early] morning Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [17]
Without making exception. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [18]
So there came upon the garden an affliction from your Lord while they were asleep. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [19]
And it became as though reaped. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [20]
And they called one another at morning, Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [21]
[Saying], "Go early to your crop if you would cut the fruit." Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [22]
So they set out, while lowering their voices, Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [23]
[Saying], "There will surely not enter it today upon you [any] poor person." Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [24]
And they went early in determination, [assuming themselves] able. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [25]
But when they saw it, they said, "Indeed, we are lost; Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [26]
Rather, we have been deprived." Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [27]
The most moderate of them said, "Did I not say to you, 'Why do you not exalt [Allah]?' " Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [28]
They said, "Exalted is our Lord! Indeed, we were wrongdoers." Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [29]
Then they approached one another, blaming each other. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [30]
They said, "O woe to us; indeed we were transgressors. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [31]
Perhaps our Lord will substitute for us [one] better than it. Indeed, we are toward our Lord desirous." Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [32]
Such is the punishment [of this world]. And the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [33]
Indeed, for the righteous with their Lord are the Gardens of Pleasure. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [34]
Then will We treat the Muslims like the criminals? Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [35]
What is [the matter] with you? How do you judge? Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [36]
Or do you have a scripture in which you learn Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [37]
That indeed for you is whatever you choose? Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [38]
Or do you have oaths [binding] upon Us, extending until the Day of Resurrection, that indeed for you is whatever you judge? Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [39]
Ask them which of them, for that [claim], is responsible. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [40]
Or do they have partners? Then let them bring their partners, if they should be truthful. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [41]
The Day the shin will be uncovered and they are invited to prostration but the disbelievers will not be able, Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [42]
Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. And they used to be invited to prostration while they were sound. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [43]
So leave Me, [O Muhammad], with [the matter of] whoever denies the Qur'an. We will progressively lead them [to punishment] from where they do not know. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [44]
And I will give them time. Indeed, My plan is firm. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [45]
Or do you ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down? Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [46]
Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down? Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [47]
Then be patient for the decision of your Lord, [O Muhammad], and be not like the companion of the fish when he called out while he was distressed. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [48]
If not that a favor from his Lord overtook him, he would have been thrown onto the naked shore while he was censured. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [49]
And his Lord chose him and made him of the righteous. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [50]
And indeed, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes when they hear the message, and they say, "Indeed, he is mad." Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [51]
But it is not except a reminder to the worlds. Al-Qalam ( The Pen ) [52]
